The overload protection process of the hydraulic oscillating cylinder is mainly achieved through built-in or external safety mechanisms. When the system pressure or load exceeds the set threshold, the protection device is activated to prevent equipment damage. The following are the common overload protection methods and their working principles:
Mechanical overload protection
Principle: In the transmission system of the hydraulic oscillating cylinder, mechanical stoppers or shear pins are installed. When the load exceeds the set value, the mechanical structure will deform or break, thereby cutting off the power transmission.
Application: Suitable for scenarios with low precision and low cost, such as simple swinging mechanisms.
2. Hydraulic overload protection
(1) Overflow Valve Protection
Principle: In the hydraulic system, an overflow valve is installed. When the system pressure exceeds the set value, the overflow valve opens and discharges the excess hydraulic oil back to the oil tank, thereby limiting the system pressure.
Features: Fast response, automatic reset. Suitable for applications requiring frequent overload protection.
(2) Sequence valve protection
Principle: The sequence valve opens when the pressure reaches the set value, diverting some of the hydraulic oil to other circuits, thereby reducing the pressure in the main circuit.
Features: Capable of achieving multi-level pressure control. Suitable for complex hydraulic systems.
3. Electrical overload protection
(Pressure sensor + PLC control)
Principle: The working pressure of the hydraulic oscillating cylinder is monitored in real time by a pressure sensor. When the pressure exceeds the set value, the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) receives the signal and controls the operation of the solenoid valve, thereby cutting off the hydraulic oil supply or activating the pressure relief circuit.
Features: High precision, capable of remote monitoring and automatic control. Suitable for high-precision and high-reliability applications.
(2) Torque Limiter
Principle: A torque sensor is installed on the drive shaft of the oscillating cylinder. When the detected torque exceeds the set value, the control system automatically reduces the output power or stops the operation.
Feature: Suitable for applications where precise control of output torque is required.
4. Composite Overload Protection
Principle: Combining various protection methods such as mechanical, hydraulic and electrical, a multi-level protection mechanism is formed. For example, initial protection is provided by mechanical limit switches, followed by secondary protection through hydraulic relief valves, and precise control and alarm are achieved through the electrical control system.
Features: High reliability, strong adaptability. Suitable for industrial applications with high loads and high risks.
5. Special Design Protection
Built-in buffering structure: A buffering device, such as a spring or damper, is designed inside the oscillating cylinder to absorb the impact energy during overload.
Thermal protection: Monitors the temperature of the hydraulic oil. If the temperature is too high, it activates the cooling system or reduces the load.
Practical Application Considerations
Parameter setting: Based on the working conditions and load characteristics of the hydraulic oscillating cylinder, appropriately set the threshold for overload protection.
Regular maintenance: Regularly inspect the working condition of the protection devices to ensure their sensitivity and reliability.
Alarm mechanism: When the overload protection is activated, audible and visual alarms or remote notifications are provided to facilitate prompt handling.
